WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW

Hardwood is one of the most popular floors due to your versatility, design and natural charm that brings to each installation a unique result. You can’t go wrong, it’s benefits go beyond looks and durability.

Solid or Engineered?
Solid hardwood flooring is usually 5/8” to ¾” thick and it can be sanded and refinished many times. Engineered hardwood flooring is a layer of real wood glued to several layers of wood underneath. Solid hardwood is susceptible to changes in humidity and isn’t recommended for below-grade basements, it also common to find variations in width on planks over 3.1/4” inches. Engineered hardwood has excellent stability and can be installed in any area of your home, including basements, and it does not have variations in width.

Unfinished or Finished?
Unfinished hardwood flooring is the best option if you want a seamless installation that can match the color of an existing floor or a custom stain. It is sanded and finished on site after installation and requires some time to walk on it. Prefinished hardwood flooring comes from factory already sanded, stained and sealed, which means the job goes quicker and the floor is ready to walk on immediately after installation.
